„Nešto više“– Something more developed on social entrepreneurship in B&H

Since 1997, this organization has been supporting entrepreneurs in several municipalities in B&H by conducting and implementing programs and projects. In last several years, they have focused on development and starting up social enterprises.

“Nešto više” (Eng. Something More) is an organization which encourages positive changes in society by supporting individuals and groups, through formal and non-formal education, networking, work, joint experiences and help to others, develop their competences and become responsible leaders who by believing in themselves and other are cherishing openness and loyalty to their society.

Since 1997, this organization has been supporting entrepreneurs in several municipalities in B&H by conducting and implementing programs and projects. In last several years, they have focused on development and starting up social enterprises in local communities, strengthening the farmers, and the promotion of models of social entrepreneurship among children and adults.

Through their programs, they:

  • Enhance skills of young people, women and unemployed persons in the agricultural sector - Education of the cover 4 topics: 1. the production of milk, the second production of berries, 3 perennial plant, fruits and 4 honey production (4 groups of 10 users). During the program, 10 of the 40 business plans have been allocated funds for implementation.
  • Develop key competences and lifeskills of students of 7th, 8th and 9th in primary schools through active learning on social entrepreneurship so the competitiveness in the labor market through institutional aproach by creating  environment for establishment entrepreneurship sections in schools.
  • Harmonize policies for organic agricultural production in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the EU standards in order to make local producers more visible on the European market.

Organization has also bought a one hectare (10 000 m2) farm which is used for production of fruits and vegetables, as nurserie, and as a place to for workshops and promotion to be held. The farm was purchased from funds that they collected over the years, and today the farm has:

  • 2 large greenhouses;
  • 2 orchards with 200 fruit trees;
  • 9 beehives;

All production is organic and it is being sold, donated to humanitarian organization and public kitchens. People with disabilities are directly included in production process, as well as 35 students. All facilities are adjusted so people with disabilities can work any time. Last five years, two persons with disabilities are directly involved and having a full-time job.
