SMART START B&H: II Workshop: Practical skills in working with microcontrollers

Project: Makerspace multifunctional classroom and workshop
II Workshop: Practical skills in working with microcontrollers (Arduino Platform)

Project Coordinator: Amir Hadžić, dipl. ing. el. teh., prof. in the electrical engineering school of Tuzla

Workshop leader: Benjamin Huseinefendić, Faculty of electrical engineering at the University of Tuzla

In the new premises of the association of citizens Ekosol, in the center of the city, another workshop was held under the Smart Start: Sustainable impact of civil society through social entrepreneurship and innovation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia and Turkey. The project is implemented by the association of citizens Ekosol from Tuzla with the support of Centre for Civil Society Promotion CCSP from Sarajevo under the Instrument for pre-accession assistance (IPA II) of the European Union in BiH.

Workshops titled "Practical skills in working with microcontrollers (Arduino Platform)" were attended by 20 students from gymnasium "Meša Selimović", gymnasium KŠC "Sveti Franjo", electrical engineering high school, elementary school “Brčanska Malta”, elementary school “Tušanj”, elementary school “Sjenjak” and elementary school "Kreka".

Workshop leader Benjamin Huseinefendić informed the participants at the very beginning of his presentation about how the workshop would be held. The workshop was divided into two stages due to the capacity of the space. The first stage was a theoretical presentation where all the students listened briefly to the workshop leader who presented the world of microcontrollers and the Arduino platform. Also through the presentation participants are informed about six projects that they would be able to realize in the next stage of the workshop. All the participants were very interested in the subject and included in the presentation asking many questions and sharing ideas of using microcontroller in everyday life. At the end of the presentation the participants were divided into two groups, elementary school students and high school students.

In the second stage of the workshop were high school students while the elementary school students went to a lunch break at restaurant in the neighborhood. For the present students, within the premises of the association, there were two workplaces with laptops and Arduino Starter Kit sets available. Both workplaces had three prepared projects for which they had completed codes, and the task at the desk was to learn to combine the schemes of the given projects and implement the completed codes. To be even more interesting among the teams at the work desks, a competition was held which would complete all prepared projects before. With every realized project you could see the admiration and happiness that they managed to build something with their own hands and get a finished "product". After a certain time there was a group replacement. Even more interest was shown in the project implementation by the second group of elementary school students. Showing a small dose of fear in working with various components, they managed to realize a couple of projects with joint forces.

The workshops were also attended by: pedagogue of gymnasium “Meša Selimović”, teacher of technical education and informatics of the elementary school “Brčanska Malta” and members of the association Medina Bristrić, Haris Aličić and Antonio Zahirović.

At the very end of the workshop all the present people made a single photo in front of the association space and it was agreed, all those who would have the desire to get to know the Arduino platform better or to come up with an idea to apply it, can always come, get informed and create some future projects.

II Radionica: Praktične vještine u radu sa mikrokontrolerima (Arduino platforma)

Koordinator projekta: Amir Hadžić, dipl. ing. el. teh., prof. u elektrotehničkoj školi Tuzla

Voditelj radionice: Benjamin Huseinefendić, student fakulteta elektrotehnike na univerzitetu u Tuzli

U novim prostorijama Udruženja građana Ekosol, u centru grada, održana je druga radionica u okviru projekta „Smart Start: Održivi uticaj civilnog društva kroz društveno preduzetništvo i inovacije u Bosni i Hercegovini, Srbiji, Crnoj Gori, Makedoniji i Turskoj“.

Radionici su takođe prisustvovali: pedagog gimnazije Meša Selimović, nastavnica tehničkog odgoja i informatike OŠ „Brčanska Malta“ i članovi udruženja Medina Bristrić, Haris Aličić i Antonio Zahirović.
