Turkey's CSOs entered the granting competition

Smart Start Social Entrepreneurship for Civil Society Program was designed to provide civil society organizations selected by the Smart Start Project with a step-by-step methodology to systematically establish their social enterprise. The program was designed to help participants to:

  • Understand the fundamentals of social business

  • Understand the foundational assumptions about their social business idea

  • Understand the process of validating/invalidating their assumptions

  • Understand the basics of communication skills

  • Understand the fundamentals of creating a business plan

  • Understand the fundamentals of creating an operating / strategic plan

 

The goal of the program was to educate the civil society organizations on the principles of starting a social enterprise, develop their enterprising ideas and create an operating plan to determine the next steps they will need to take in order to become self-sustainable. In total 17 organizations and 23 participants participated to the program.

The workshops were held as part of an intensive 3-day program. The participants received 21 hours of training during the course of the program. Flow of the program included an orientation, 6 workshops (21 hours in total) and a community gathering.
The Workshops are as follows:

  2. Lean Canvas

  3. Market Research

  4. Getting Your Message Across: Basic Mass Communication Skills Training

  5. Business Plan

  6. Strategic Planning

 

Overall Evaluation of the Program in Turkey:

  • 88% of the participants indicated that the program provided them with the know-how they need to start their social enterprise

  • 88% of the participants indicated that the program provided them with clear actions steps to ramp up over the next 6 months

  • 88% of the participants indicated that after this program, they would be interested in participating programs organized by Impact Hub Istanbul

  • 88% of the participants indicated that the program was well organised.

Net Promoter Score was used to measure the satisfaction level of the participants and the NPS score of Smart Start Social Entrepreneurship for Civil Society Program is (79%) in the World Class range.
